Glowing Up in God: Unveiling True Beauty Through Faith

There is such a freedom when you don’t feel you have to prove your beauty to the world. As a woman the world makes you believe your worth is objective to men’s sexual desires. God tells us that unfading beauty is a gentle and quiet spirit. When I think about a gentle and quiet spirit it is not prideful, it is caring, and helps us remain calm in all circumstances.

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

Breaking Free From the Worldly Beauty Standards

The world of sinful nature is constantly sexually objectifying women. Setting standards of fleshly desire above inner value. As women, society conditions us to believe our worth is tied to men’s desires. However, God tells us that true, unfading beauty is found in a gentle and quiet spirit. It is the complete opposite of the adversary’s direction (hell). The world’s standards lead to emptiness, while God’s truth leads to peace and purpose.

When we cultivate a gentle and humble spirit like Jesus, our beauty shines from the inside out. This kind of beauty naturally attracts the right people into our lives. In contrast, outward beauty without inner grace can lead to spiritual downfall.

Glowing Up in God: Unveiling True Beauty Through Faith

-a personal journey

I no longer wake up thinking bad about features I don’t like. In my past I never felt I was the perfect shape, or looked beautiful all the time on the outside. The peace I have now about myself is beyond understanding. I wake up and praise Jesus for being with me for guiding my steps because I am excited to live for him. That is what matters to me now, not what the world suggests a woman to be striving for. I am a woman who desires to be like Jesus and follow his way, not the worlds ways.

In the past, I struggled with self-hate, confusion, and a lack of identity. I tried to shape my appearance for others, leading to resentment and spiritual emptiness. I didn’t realize that I wasn’t just unhappy with my looks—I was disconnected from God. My worth was based on worldly validation, leaving me insecure and lost. This also made me “hate” men, and I didn’t treat them well because of that. I was easily irritated and had no problem with being loud about it, which was so ugly to God.

The person I was choosing to aimlessly be was separating me from God. I felt alone and would try to fill that space with someone or something, whether it was alcohol or venting “gossiping” with a girlfriend. I had a lot of animosity to a lot of people and things going wrong in my life. I wasn’t looking in the spirit mirror. I couldn’t connect my spirit to my outer disposition. Things weren’t making sense anymore, it wasn’t adding up. My worth was not growing based on others’ likes and approval. I wasn’t confident because I didn’t know myself in God. I was a wandering “fraud” and blended right in with the enemy’s standard of an attractive woman. This was the “fleeting” outward beauty God talks about. It was eating away at my inner being, like an attack on my spirit. I was open to spiritual warfare yet not prepared for the battle until I started to do something different. Everything changed when I started opening my Bible. God’s word spoke life into my spirit, renewing my mind and guiding me toward real transformation.

How to Glow Up In God and Find True Beauty!

Glowing up in God takes Inner work. It is a challenge but it is freedom on the other side of what the world expects a woman to be and look like. It is a special place to be when you sense your true beauty through Faith in God. There is nothing that the world has to offer that is better.

Taking care of your outward appearance is important and I am not saying in any manner to neglect taking care of yourself. God gave us all a body to take care of as a temple kept for him and the man he has in store for us. Think of self-care as if you are preparing your temple to be a glorifying and symbol of reverence to God versus an idol of lust to the world.

A couple things that have struck me along my path to unveiling my true beauty is the immense peace and feeling of freedom from the ties of sexual temptations. Not only that I have no pressure to impress anyone with my beauty. I am in love with praising God, and getting to live a life for him.

Glowing up in God as a woman means transforming your heart, mind, and lifestyle to reflect His love, grace, and purpose. True beauty isn’t about outward appearance but about becoming a woman of faith, strength, and wisdom.

Here’s how you can glow up in God and radiate His light with True Beauty

Strengthen Your Relationship with God

Prioritize Prayer – Talk to God daily like you would a best friend. Be honest, seek His guidance, and trust Him with your struggles. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Read & Meditate on Scripture – The Bible is your guide to wisdom, self-worth, and purpose. (Joshua 1:8)
Worship with Your Whole Heart – Worship shifts your focus from the world’s expectations to God’s truth.

Renew Your Mind with God’s Truth

Speak Life Over Yourself – Replace negative thoughts with Bible-based affirmations. (Romans 12:2)
Consume Faith-Based Content – Listen to sermons, read Christian books, and follow uplifting, godly influences.
Let Go of Worldly Standards – Social media and culture push unrealistic beauty standards. True beauty is found in a godly heart. (1 Peter 3:3-4)

Walk in Obedience & Purpose

The world is full of pride and the devils’ goal is to cause us to become prideful so that we become rebellious to God, which means not to obey his commandments. This is how we get away from following the law of God which is the way to Jesus the Truth. Being Obedient to the word of God is actually freeing from the bondage of this world.

Let Go of Sin & Distractions – Break free from toxic habits, relationships, and anything pulling you away from God. (Hebrews 12:1)
Serve & Give with Love – The most beautiful women are those who serve others selflessly. (Proverbs 31:20)
Live in Purity & Modesty – Your worth isn’t in how the world sees you, but in how God designed you. Dress and carry yourself in a way that honors Him.

Take Care of Your Body, God’s Temple

Taking care of your body is important for spiritual growth in God. He wants us to love the body he gave us and take care of it well in honor of our creator.

Eat Nutritious Foods – A healthy diet fuels your energy and mind. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Exercise & Stay Active – Moving your body brings confidence and strength.
Prioritize Rest & Self-Care – Sleep, skincare, and relaxation are all essential for your well-being.

Surround Yourself with Godly Women

Who we surround ourselves with is a reflection of who we are. Influence is a human condition and it is not possible to be in company of evil doers and maintain a life glorifying to God.

Join a Faith-Based Community – Find a women’s Bible study, church group, or online Christian community for support and encouragement.
Seek Godly Mentorship – Learn from older, wise women who walk in faith and purpose. (Titus 2:3-5)
Be an Encourager – Speak life into other women, uplift your sisters in Christ, and build genuine friendships.

Radiate the Fruits of the Spirit

To have a spirit that shines for Jesus comes from the knowledge of the word which feeds our spirit mind. The holy spirit helps to guide us in the direction of God’s blessings and gifts to give to others.

Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us that true beauty shines through:
Love – Show kindness and patience.
Joy – Find happiness in God’s presence.
Peace – Stay calm in the storm.
Patience – Trust God’s timing.
Kindness – Be a light to others.
Goodness – Choose what is right.
Faithfulness – Stay devoted to God.
Gentleness – Speak with grace.
Self-control – Resist temptations that harm your glow.
